The Freemanart Consultancy is an expert international fine art consultancy specializing in the investigation of the authenticity, attribution, and the provenance of Old Master Paintings and Drawings. Based in Britain, our location gives us direct access to world-class fine art research facilities and important historical artist archives both here and throughout Europe. In celebration of our proud 50th year, we continue to confidentially serve a diverse range of private and corporate clients worldwide. We are regularly involved in investigating Old Master paintings and drawings from the Dutch Golden Age, as well as works from the French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, South American, British, and Italian schools, ranging from the 14th to the late 18th century. In general, our research and investigation enquiries tend to focus on the Medieval period right through to the Renaissance. A core and hugely important part of our work is building a rigorous, evidence-based case that proves the authenticity of a work of art, as opinion alone is just not enough. We also scrutinize previous attributions, investigate and confirm new ones, and verify the reliability of provenance and the historical lineage of the work. To achieve this, our team conducts hands-on research in key European cultural centers, including Amsterdam, Paris, London, Florence, Rome, and Venice.

In our long extablished working process, we always advise clients to begin with a Preliminary Assessment of Viability Study. Where we examine all aspects of the work of art as presented to us and any provenance or historical lineage there may be, in order to establish if there is a viable basis for a full investigation to be undertaken. The study wisely determines if a formal, full-scale investigation is likely to be successful, saving you time and expense.
