Lucian Freud

(1922–2011)

 Freud trained under Cedric Morris at the East Anglian School and was to become one of the most celebrated portraitists of our time.

His stark and revealing paintings of friends and intimates, often splayed nude in his studio, changed the art of portraiture and offered a new approach and perspective to figurative art.

 Though it is rare to see illegitimate, fully fledged Freud, or Freud-esque works appearing today, as Lucian Freud paintings are very well recorded, however the famous name undoubtedly appears on many illegitimate drawings, sketches and works of type, painted by anonymous artists and presented as legitimate..

 A search on the internet reveals many modern copies of his paintings and some claiming to be original, only later in their descriptions reverting to it only being an attribution!

 Freuds early paintings, style and subjects are easily emulated by the unscrupulous and proportional parts of his paintings copied as if they were drawings or wash sketches, only to be passed off as being 'original studies' for a more major work by the artist.

 Attention:  Conducting all fine art related due diligence and duty of care inquiries. Including safe prepurchase or sale related audits and assisting clients in consolidating a well balanced future family distribution.
