Although the duration and direction of every authenticity investigation will vary from project to project, there are clear and well defined responsibilities and professional formalities that we can assist you with, including; |
|
Authentication: Stage I: Expert professional preliminary advisory service. Conducting balanced impartial assessments of the viability of progressing on to a full investigation of legitimacy. Stage II: Directing full, comprehensive investigations and in depth, multilingual international investigations and research into the work of art, directing any forensic or external applications that may be required in the process. Investigations made with a view to establishing a correct and formally recognized confirmation of legitimacy and an irrefutable certification of its authenticity. One absolutely upheld by the appropriate, legally acknowledged and internationally sanctioned authority, body, or foremost accepted expert on that particular artist or studio, as is required globally. |
| Attribution: Investigations with the intention to identify and confirm the identity of a previously anonymous artist, studio or workshop from which a work of art most likely originated. Or the re-examination and investigation of a previous attribution which may be incorrect, or scrutinizing an attribution that has been formally questioned or doubted. | |
| Confirmation: Conducting research and investigations into the legitimacy of the provenance, history of lineage and prior ownership of a work of art and qualifying and confirming its own accuracy. | |
|
Scrutiny: Identifying faux works of art and forgeries, including any false supportive accompanying documentation and determining works of art which may be studio or later copies, or previous incorrect attributions. |
| Prosecution: Investigating an alleged art fraud or forgery and assisting and advising those individuals who are, or may be considering litigating or prosecuting the fact. This includes conducting work for both legal professionals and private clients. | |
| Attention: Conducting all fine art related due diligence and duty of care inquiries. Including safe prepurchase or sale related audits and assisting clients in consolidating a well balanced future family distribution of fine art assets. | |
| Appraisal: Including valuations; for sale, purchase, or insurance purposes, quality and condition assessments and reports. | |

Step one in the Art Authentication Process - The Pre-Authentication Assessment. L'évaluation de pré-authentification. La evaluación previa a la autenticación Before pursuing any investigation into the authenticity or an attribution of a work of art, it is wise to seriously consider the viability of the project. So we advise you to have a professional pre-authentication assessment conducted by us first. A well reasoned, independent and unbiased study, simply made to balance the positive against any negative factors or issues that there might be. Based upon the images you supply, the known details of its acquisition and historical background and sight of any supportive documentation or additional facts that you may have gathered. As fine art consultants and advisors now in our 45th year in this expert and specialized field, we consider it a vitally important part of the whole authentication process and your primary safety net. A logical and cost effective professional assessment and advisory for which there is a modest set fee. CONTACT us confidentially: FAQ's for further information |
